Presents: The Shakers

Join Peter Wisbey, at the Scottsville Free Library, as he discusses the popularity of the United Society of Believers or “Shakers” and their New York communities at Sodus, Wayne County, and Groveland in Livingston County.

The Shakers were well known for their skilled craftsmanship and simplicity of design in furniture making and architecture.

Peter will also discuss the dismantling, relocation, and restoration of the Groveland Trustees” Building to the Genesee Country Village and Museum in 1987.

   Peter Wisbey, is the Philip K. Wehrheim Curator of Collections, at the Genesee Country Village and Museum where he has served for 18 years.
